Shortly after arriving at the Cathedral in 1997, Fr Campion,
the Cathedral's Dean, gave an undertaking that the Cathedral
congregation would not be burdened with any debt for the
major works that were crucial for the future of the Cathedral.
The Development Fund was set up to attract private donations
to pay for these works. Since then the Fund has provided
for the refurbishment of the church interior and the development
of the Cloister Café & the Pauline Books & Media
Centre at no cost to the members of the congregation.
The new projects, including new stained glass windows, the
replacing of the floor tiles, new heating boilers and under-floor
heating, relocating the baptismal font and the organ, will
be undertaken in the next few years. To date, we have commitments
of up to £600,000 from private donors for these projects.
We are extremely fortunate to be so richly blessed with such
generous donors and, fittingly, Holy Mass is now offered
every week in the Cathedral for the intentions of our many
benefactors.
